A new business in Jefferson was awarded a $5,000 Jefferson Wants You incentive grant for start-up costs. Nikki Uebel purchased the property at 100 N Wilson Ave in Jefferson and opened her new real estate business, RE/MAX Legacy. Uebel said, “This business was a catalyst for our purchase of the vacant downtown building. It will impact all of the town by having two productive businesses in that space. Additionally, RE/MAX will be a community partner with other businesses.”
Uebel has hired one part-time position to help with design and marketing. Her goal is to hire at least one other agent and an administrative assistant within the first few years with fulltime positions.
The Jefferson Wants You Incentive Fund was created as a part of the Rural Return Grant received as part of the Empower Rural Iowa Initiative. A number of local utilities, financial institutions and a grant from Grow Greene County have provided the funding for this incentive fund with a local committee making the selection.
