Several weeks have passed since the start of the 2022 Greene County farmers market season in its new location next to Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County (TJG). The market runs from 4 to 6 pm every Tuesday and the Gardens are located at 201 E. Lincoln Way.
“We’ve learned a lot in the last few weeks,” said Jean Walker of the TJG board who serves as the primary contact and market manager. “We really want to make this a successful market and it was important that the TJG board step up as the sponsor to keep it going.”
Tent shades have been added and additional tables and chairs will be available for those who purchase meals and want to consume them at the market.
More vendors will be participating this week with sweet corn season coming on, Walker said. “We’ve had a nice mix of food vendors and crafts,” she said. “We’re always looking for more vendors though. Anyone interested should contact me.” Crafts for kids to do are also offered.
Meals will be set up under the TJG pavilion adjacent to the market area. Those interested in serving a meal during the market should contact Walker as soon as possible as dates are filling up. There may be other food service requirements that need to be met.
Food providers and all new vendors need to contact Walker at 515-370-1905 or through the Greene County Farmers’ Market Facebook page to get set up on the schedule and be provided with information to be a vendor.
“We’re really happy to give back to the community and provide an important service, the farmers’ market,” said Walker. “Please contact me to become a vendor or meal provider.”
