Earl “Joe” McCullough, 81, of Scranton, passed away June 17, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines following a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral service will be held June 21 at the United Methodist Church in Scranton with The Rev. Joyce Webb officiating. Casket bearers will be Joe’s grandchildren. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery.
Joe, as he was known to most, was born February 1, 1941, in Jefferson, the son of Roger and Bernice (Wampler) McCullough. Joe grew up in Scranton and graduated from Scranton Consolidated Schools in 1959. He began working for the grocery store in Scranton as a boy and later worked for the Scranton Coop. He also worked for Scranton Manufacturing, did custom roto tilling, and he was the caretaker of the Scranton Township Cemetery for many years.
Joe was married to Carolyn Robbins in 1965 and they had a son Kevin. The couple later divorced and Joe was later married to Dione Morlan. He was then married to Carolyn Carson on September 8, 2018.
Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, restoring guns and antique tractors, and loving every day!
Joe is survived by his wife Carolyn Carson-McCullough; his son Kevin McCullough (Brenda Spaulding) of Jefferson; grandchildren Sierra McCullough (Devin Vanderheiden) of Halbur, Kayla McCullough of Carroll, and John McCullough; and great-grandson Axel. Joe is also survived by Dione’s children, Ellen Minnehan (Mark) of Ames, Jon Morlan (Rhonda) of Jefferson, and Dan Morlan (Sara) of Urbandale; his grandchildren: Austin, Katie, Colton, Gavin, and Landon; his sister Barb Dahl (Chuck) of Alta; and other extended family members.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Bernice McCullough.
