Greene County Farm Bureau is partnering with the Jefferson Fareway store and Rueter’s Red Power in Grand Junction to conduct its seventh annual “cram the cab” food drive now through June 18. The goal is to cram a tractor cab from Rueter’s with non-perishable groceries and hygiene items that will be donated to the Greene County Christian Action Resources Center.
Customers shopping at the grocery store have several ways to donate. One way is to round up your grocery bill to the nearest dollar. By rounding up your purchase, you are helping those who struggle with hunger in the county. Another way to donate is to purchase a $15 pre-packed bag of non-perishable food items that Fareway has assembled.
In addition, monetary donations, food, and hygiene items may be dropped off at the Greene County Farm Bureau office at 201 East Harrison St in Jefferson during the Cram the Cab food drive.
“One out of every eight Iowans struggle with hunger. By working together, we can help meet the needs of those in the county who are struggling to put food on the table for their families,” a Farm Bureau spokesperson said. The local food pantry always sees an increased demand during the summer months due to schools not in session.
