The Greene County board of supervisors will hold a special meeting Thursday, June 9, at 3:30 pm in the board room of the courthouse.
The supervisors will consider a request from the county auditor for an administrative recount of the Central and East precincts of Tuesday’s primary election.
County auditor Jane Heun explained the machine count was one higher than the number of voter affidavits in those two precincts. There was a statewide problem with the Unisyn equipment due to older motherboards, and Greene County wasn’t the only county to experience the discrepancy. Because of that, the Secretary of State recommends administrative recounts in those precincts.
Heun said a paper jam was most probably the problem in every instance, with the machine increasing the count of ballots when the voter put the ballot through. “We just want to ensure the counts are correct,” Heun said.
