The Greene County Rams will have five events at the state track and field meet this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. The Rams competed at a qualifying meet in Treynor last Thursday.
The top two places in the qualifying meet are automatic qualifiers for the state meet, with the remaining positions filled by comparing times/distances across the state.
Senior Jackson Morton qualified with his first place finish in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.98 seconds. Morton also qualified for the 400m hurdles with his second place finish in 55.50. Senior Nathan Black qualified by placing second in the high jump, clearing the bar at 6′ 0′.
Qualifying via ranked times/distances were senior Bryce Stalder in the long jump with a leap of 21′ 0.75″, and the shuttle hurdle relay of Morton, freshman Landyn Venteicher, Stalder and Black. Their time at Treynor was 1:01.86.
Junior Olivia Shannon qualified for the state meet in the long jump, leaping 17′ 4.75″ to take second place. The girls 4X100m relay placed second with Shannon and juniors Katrina Heupel, Natalie Heupel, and Isabella Schroeder finishing the race in 52.54 seconds.
Shannon earned a spot in the 200m dash with a third place finish and a time of 26.37 seconds. The same girls relay team will complete in the 4X200m relay, qualifying with a time of 1:49.31.
