The Greene County girls soccer team picked up their first win of the season last week, with two losses sandwiching the victory.
On May 5, the girls traveled to Kuemper Catholic High School in Carroll to face the Knights. The Rams took the loss 3-1.
Chanlyn Cunningham scored the loan Ram goal for the night. Madison Kinsey had 12 saves as goalie.
On Saturday, the girls took part in a tournament in Creston. In a game against the home team, the Rams were able to pick up their first win, beating Creston 1-0. Esther Van Horn was responsible for the Ram’s goal.
The next game was a tougher battle against the 7-3 Panorama Panthers. The Rams were unable to score a goal, but Kinsey did prevent six goals from the Panthers. Panorama prevailed 8-0.
The Rams were scheduled to play at Nevada on Tuesday, and in Wall Lake against East Sac County on Friday.
The boys soccer team had a two win, two loss week to start the month of May.
The Rams started with a 2-0 win on May 2 against the PCM Mustangs. Gesser Gutierres and Brenner Gallagher each scored a goal, with goalie Gabe Ebersole saving the Rams from five goals by the Mustangs.
On Saturday, the Rams played three matches at the Nevada tournament. The first brought the Rams face to face with Gilbert, losing 1-0. The Rams then took on Collins-Maxwell, winning 5-0. The Rams then lost 3-0 to Marshalltown. No stats were available for the tournament.
