Greene County Veteran Affairs has two special events planned in May and June.
Veterans from around the county are invited to meet for coffee and a doughnut at Dunkers by Matt on the downtown square in Jefferson on the second Thursday of each month. Refreshments will be available from 8:30 to 9:30 am. The first meeting is Thursday, May 12.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with other veterans. There will be occasional guest speakers. Greene County Veteran Affairs director Mike Bierl will be there to answer any VA benefit or general questions you may have.
The State of Iowa Outreach Allocation is covering the cost of the refreshments.
End of life planning for veterans is the topic for a meeting on Wednesday, June 1, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds. Veterans affairs and local agencies will be available to answer questions and provide information on end of life care and final arrangements.
This is a good opportunity to receive information for veterans and spouses as you plan for life’s inevitable circumstances.
There will be a change of office hours in the Veteran Affairs office during the summer. From May 31 through Aug. 18, the office will be open Tuesday – Thursday 8 am to noon and 12:30 to 4:30 pm. The office hours will return to the regular schedule of Monday – Friday 9 am. to 1 pm following the summer change.
The office will be closed as Bierl attends the National Training Conference during the week of June 6 – 10.
