In Greene County district court James Kenneth Harris, 35, of Woodward was sentenced April 20 to 30 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault- second offense, amended from domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense. He will be given credit for time service. He must complete a batterers education program. Harris was fined $855 with a $128.55 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $90 domestic abuse surcharge, an amount not to exceed $1,000 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees, and $907.78 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Rene Omar Guzman, 45, of Grand Junction was sentenced April 20 to two years in prison on each of three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. The prison terms are concurrent, and Guzman will be given credit for time served. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge on each of those charges, as well as on a charge of criminal mischief- third degree. The fines and surcharges were suspended. The court found Guzman unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs. Two counts of willful injury were dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Janice Kay Fox, 59, of Fort Dodge, unauthorized use of credit card less than $1,500; Robert Craig Montgomery, 67, of Grand Junction, conspiracy to commit non-forcible felony; Thomas Lee Caldwell, 45, of Woodward, possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense; Jason Robert Smith, 36, of Jefferson, operating while intoxicated; Francisco Javier Andrade Rico, 36, of Jefferson, OWI; Joseph Virgil Peterson, 39, of Jefferson, OWI- third offense; Christopher Robin Lawrence, 41, of Jefferson, OWI- second offense; Eric Wayne Bellinghausen, 41, of Jefferson, OWI; Randolph Lee Glass, 56, of Rippey, domestic abuse assault causing injury; and Peyton Michael Paddock, 24, of Jefferson, OWI. Trial dates were set for May 10 for Smith and Paddock, and for July 19 for all other defendants named.
Cases were initiated during the week ending April 22 as follows: Mitchell Kenneth Venteicher 37, of Jefferson, driving while license barred; and Katherine Elizabeth Wells, 33, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness.
