Greenbrier 4-H club – Greenbrier’s April 11 meeting was held at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds. Samantha Hardaway prefaced the meeting by introducing herself as the new county youth and 4-H coordinator. Dakota Ostrander led the meeting by first reminding members of the animal ID deadline May 15, for all breeding animals, bucket calves, horses, dogs, poultry, and rabbits. All forms are online.
Since swine participants do not have a weigh-in, their ear tags can be picked up April 13 or May 5 at the Greene County Extension office. Sheep and goat weigh-in will be Saturday, May 7, at the Greene County Fairgrounds.
Rabbit tattoos and pullorum testing will be Saturday, May 7, and June 25, also at the Greene County Fairgrounds.
Youth 4-H Conference 2022 is to be held in Ames June 28-30. The theme for this year is “Building the Future”. High Schoolers should register online until June 1 , remembering the Greene County 4-H Foundation pays for 75 percent of the cost.
“Building the Future” will also be the theme of the 2022 fair. The Home State Bank is again sponsoring Greene County Fair T-shirts for each 4-Her. Members must have the correct size appearing in their online 4-H profile for the proper fit.
The $15 Challenge takes place Monday, April 18, with registration until April 15. Participants will meet at ShineOn Designs at 1 pm for a tour and shop for outfits before walking to the Extension Office to fill out paperwork.
Presentations were given by Autumn Barrett on interesting facts about dogs, and by Breanna and Tyler Pope on sheep care. Refreshments were provided by Autumn and the Popes.
Greenbrier’s next meeting will be Monday, May 9, 7 pm at Clover Hall.
