The Greene County boys track team had two meets last week, winning the championship at the April 11 meet in Carroll and placing sixth with a smaller team traveling to Indianola on April 15.
Monday’s meet brought a strong showing for the Rams who won the meet with multiple personal records set by the athletes.
“One highlight was Jackson Morton ran a 14.82 in the 110 high hurdles which qualifies him for Drake Relays Blue Oval Standards and puts him in fourth place over all classes in the state in that event,” said coach Chad Morton.
First place finishes went to Bryce Stalder in the long jump, Jesse Miller in discus, Jackson Morton in the 110 meter hurdles, the 4×100 meter relay, the 4×400 meter relay and the 440 meter shuttle hurdle relay.

On Friday, part of the team traveled to Indianola to take part in the Indian Relays.
“Not great weather conditions, but the Rams competed well against some good competition and teams,” said coach Morton. “I was very happy with our efforts.”
Jackson Morton took first in the 110 meter hurdles, while second place finishes were accomplished by Bryce Stalder in the long jump, and the 4×110 shuttle hurdle relay.

Both Ram teams were scheduled to compete at home on Monday but it was cancelled due to inclement weather and in Carroll on Thursday.
Girls results
The Greene County girls track and field team had one meet last week because the Thursday meet was cancelled due to inclement weather.
On Monday, the team traveled to Carroll to take part in a coed meet. The Rams took sixth place as a team, with top finishes in multiple events. Two first place finishes were accomplished by Olivia Shannon in the long jump and the 400 meter hurdles. Second place finishes include Payton Kokenge in the high jump and Shannon in the 100 meter dash.
