Greene County district court, week ending April 8

In Greene County district court Julie Renae Eslinger, 39, of Boone was sentenced to five years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary- third degree. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for three years. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Eslinger was fined $1,000 with a $153.75 surcharge; both were suspended. She must pay $1,000 victim restitution, $1,000 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees, and $165.18 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Tyler Wayne Howell, 39, of Fort Dodge was sentenced to 10 days in jail with credit for time served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. Court costs were $176.50. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Rosemarie Esperanza Reyna Nava-Espiritu, 30, of Denison was sentenced to 20 days in jail with credit for time served after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. She was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. The court found her unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees or court costs. (Sentencing: MCCarville)

Robert Alan Fry, 59 of Jefferson was sentenced to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of fraudulent practice- third degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. Fry was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. He must pay $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Brandon Lee Ferguson, 23, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine- second offense, driving while license barred, and providing false information for citation for indictable offense; Shannon Michael Heyer, 46, of Ralston, driving while license barred; Jaime Omar Gonzalez Alfaro, 26, of Storm Lake, operating while intoxicated; Jeremy Thomas Naberhaus, 35, of Carroll, driving while license barred; and Richard J. Sabus, 58, of Churdan, theft- first degree. Trial dates were set for May 10 for Meyer, Gonzales and Naberhaus, and for July 19 for Ferguson and Sabus.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Zachery Waters, 25, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault impeding blood/air flow causing bodily injury; Michael Keith Thompson, 33, of Jefferson, driving while license revoked; Kimberly Ann Conner, 62, of Jefferson, dependent adult abuse-exploitation greater than $100; and Ryan Joseph Murphy, 42, of Jefferson, willful injury causing bodily injury.
