JPRD tells upcoming youth programs

Jefferson park and recreation department invites youngsters in grades 1-6 to Bounce Your Blues Away… & Pizza Monday, April 18, at Greene County Community Center. There is no school for students that day.

Bouncy houses with an obstacle course and a giant slide will be set up in the gym. After bouncing, participants will have pizza. Registration is $10 for community center members and $15 for non/members.

The registration deadline is Monday, April 11.

Rams on the Run for youngsters in grades K-6 include running at the high school track at Linduska Field and distance running.

The track portion will be Wednesdays April 20 and 27, and May 4 and 11, from 5 to 6 pm. Participants will run sprints and various distances to get ready for the elementary track and field day and, if desired, to qualify for the Live Healthy Iowa state track meet.

The running portion will be Sundays April 24, May 1, 15, and 22, and June 5, from 6 to 7 pm. The goal is to get ready for the Bell Tower Festival 5K run. The registration fee for Rams on the Run includes a free T-shirt and entry in the Bell Tower 5K for the child and a parent. Parents are welcome to run with their children on Sundays.

Instructors are Chad Morton and the high school track team, Jeff Lamoureux, Derek Merk, and Hannah Sheridan.

The registration fee for Rams on the Run is $30 for community center members and $35 for non-members. The registration deadline is April 8.
