The annual Greene County Lamb Producers banquet was held Saturday, March 12, at Clover Hall at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson. The meal of smoked leg of lamb was prepared by the Lamb Producers with side dishes and dessert provided by Lidderdale Country Store. More than 140 people were in attendance.
The evening concluded with Kevin and Kaleb Lentz leading the auction of trophy plaques and many donated items. More than $5,000 was raised.
Money generated from the auction will be used for projects including the community lamb barn project, furnishing lamb for Clover Café and the Saturday night barbeque at the fair, the Greene County football teams, and grilling at the Colfax Sale Barn and RAGBRAI. The Lamb Producers also offer a $250 scholarship to graduating seniors who have been involved in the sheep project. ~courtesy of The Scranton Journal
