Public input meeting slated for possible indoor pool

The Jefferson park and recreation board will host a public meeting Wednesday, March 30, to gather input on the potential for adding an indoor swimming pool to the Greene County Community Center.

According to park and recreation director Denny Hammen, the receipt of an $845,000 bequest from the Rory Autenreith Trust for improvements to Greene County Community Center prompted discussion of an indoor pool. The city council authorized hiring OPN Architects to do a feasibility study to determine the level of community interest and provide information of potential costs. The cost would far exceed the Autenrieth bequest.

The March 30 meeting is the first step in developing a survey OPN Architects will use to get information needed for the feasibility study. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting to share their opinions and learn more about the possible project.

The meeting will begin at 7 pm and will be held at Greene County Community Center in the north meeting room.
