A graveside committal service was held March 24 at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery for Joann P. Harper, 80, of Jefferson.
Words of comfort were offered by the Rev Jim Harkness and the Rev Deb Harkness, both of First Baptist Church, Jefferson.
Joann Patricia Hoelscher was born May 14, 1941 in Manilla. She was the daughter of Anna (Ress) and Joseph Hoelscher.
Joann was married to Russell Harper on March 1, 1962. They were the parents of two daughters: Jolene and Coleen. The family lived in Nebraska for several years, then moved to Perry. In 1980 they moved to Jefferson. Russell Harper died in 1990. Joann then married Charles Hubbard. Charles died in 1992.
Joann had various jobs as a healthcare worker in Greene County. She was employed with Evergreene Ridge at the time of her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, canning and quilting. She liked to listen to music. Most of all, Joann loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Joann died March 21, 2022 at the age of 80 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; her sister Lois Kelleher Stumbo; her brother Larry Hoelscher; and stepsons Harold Harper and Robert Harper.
Joann is survived by her daughters Jolene (Phillip) Ganoe of Logan, and Coleen (Steve) Sillyman of Grand Junction; stepchildren Richard Harper of Michigan, Michael (Jean) Harper of Oklahoma, and Chris Harper of Des Moines; five grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
