Ram girls start track/field season with pair of indoor meets

The Greene County girls track and field team kicked off their season last week with two indoor meets, one at UNI on Monday and the second at ISU on Thursday.

On March 8 the girls traveled to the University of Northern Iowa to take part in the A.D. Dickinson Relays. The Rams had five events in the non-scoring meet.

Shot put – Emma Hoyle 28’ 8.25” (49th); Ashlynn Hinners 27’ 3.5” (62nd); Skylar Warnke 25’ 2.0” (83rd).

60 meter dash preliminary race – Isabella Schroeder 9.08 (106th); Rylan Sigler 9.20 (115th); Gretah Johnson 9.33 (123rd). 

200 meter dash – Olivia Shannon 27.91 (14th); Natalie Heupel 30.07 (83rd); Alexa Peters 30:32 (87th).

400 meter dash – Katrina Heupel 1:06.07 (23rd); Schroeder 1:14.26 (109th). 

4×200 meter relay – Greene County finished 22nd out of 56 teams with a time of 1:55.99. Shannon was the first leg with Katrina Heupel and Kamryn Sanders in the second and third legs. Natalie Heupel was the anchor. 

The girls traveled to Ames Thursday to take part in the Iowa 1A/2A girls indoor state meet. With six events in the meet, the Rams scored six points and tied for 24th place as a team.

Shot put – Hoyle 27’ 6.5” (18th); Hinners 25’ 6.25” (23rd). There were 26 girls competing in shot put.

60 meter dash preliminary race – Schroeder 9.11 (25th); Johnson 9.48 (36th). 

400 meter dash – Sigler 1:10.96 (13th); Peters 1:11.74 (15th). 

800 meter sprint medley – The Rams took 14th place out of 17 teams with a time of 2:11.53. Sigler started off for the girls with Sanders and Johnson in the second and third legs. Schroeder was the anchor. 

4×100 meter relay – Greene County finished in sixth out of 18 teams with a 54.42 finish. Shannon was the first leg, Natalie Heupel the second, Peters was the third leg and Katrina Heupel anchored the group.       

4×400 meter relay – The Rams took sixth out of 16 groups in the race with a time of 4:33.39. In order, Katrina Heupel, Sanders, Shannon and Natalie Heupel were the Greene County racers.
