Ram boys at ISU indoor meet

The Greene County boys track team placed seventh in 2A at the Iowa State University indoor track and field meet March 11.

Jackson Morton finished in second for the boys 60 meter hurdles, Nathan Black finished in fifth in the high jump and Bryce Stalder took sixth in the long jump. 

The Rams saw success in the relays with the 4×100 meter relay taking eighth, the 4×60 shuttle hurdle relay finishing in second, the 4×400 meter relay taking sixth place and the 4×800 meter relay team taking 9th place.

“I was very happy with everyone’s efforts. It was a great event to find out where we are at and the things we need to improve on,” said coach Chad Morton.

High jump – Black 5’ 8.0” (5th); Matthew Hovick 5’ 6.0” (10th).

Long jump – Stalder 19’ 11.0” (6th); Jose Velazco 18’ 2.25” (14th).

Shot put – Jace Wilson 34’ 1.0” (36th); Broc Hannan 32’ 11.5” (38th).

60 meter dash preliminary race – Daniel Rivera 7.61 (24th); Eli Mohr 8.26 (52nd).

60 meter hurdle preliminary race – Morton 8.6 (2nd place, qualified for finals).

60 meter hurdle finals – Morton 8.43 (2nd).

4×100 meter relay – the Rams finished eighth out of 23 groups with a time of 46.16. Rivera started the boys off, Camden Strennen was the second leg with Velazco as the third leg and Jesse Miller as anchor. 

4×60 meter shuttle hurdle – 34.90 allowed the Rams second place out of 12, run by Morton, Stalder, Black and Richard Daugherty.

4×400 meter relay – Greene County finished in sixth place out of 24 with a time of 3:40.02. Ram racers were Morton, Stalder, Black and Daugherty. 

4×800 meter relay – Gavin Winters, Ethan Larsen, Noah Hinote and Brenner Gallagher had a time of 9:25.12, which earned them ninth out of 20 teams.

Distance medley – the Rams took 18th out of 23 with a 4:06.77 finish. Strennen started for the boys with Daughterty following, Miller as the third leg and Logan Woodruff finishing the race.
