The Jefferson Elks lodge recently made donations totaling $8,000 from a pair of Elks National Foundation grant programs.
Greene County Schools was the recipient of $2,500 for the Ram Reader program, which distributes a book to keep to every elementary student two or three times each year. The funds came through an Elks National Foundation Gratitude grant.

An Elks National Foundation Beacon grant was awarded to the local lodge in the amount of $5,500. The Greene County Christian Action Resource center food pantry received $2,500 of the total, with $3,000 going to Elder Serve II to support the congregate meal program.

“The Jefferson Elks lodge takes a great deal of pride in trying to help the people of Greene County,” said lodge secretary Steve Smith.
