In Greene County district court Luke Elwin Molle, 23, of Jamaica was sentenced Feb. 3 to two days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Molle was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. Court costs were $152.30. A charge of possession of contraband in a correctional facility was dismissed. A companion case in magistrate court in which Molle was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed, with a judgment entered for $95.50 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. Donna Lee Campbell, 50, of Boone was sentenced Feb. 2 to two years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a charge of fraudulent practice- third degree. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for two years. Campbell must pay $1,900 restitution to Wild Rose Casino- Jefferson. She was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. She must also pay an amount not to exceed $660 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $248.28 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Sarah Johanna McBurney, 40, of Fort Dodge was sentenced to 15 years in prison after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of lottery fraud as habitual felon. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation to the Department of Corrections for three years. McBurney also changed her plea to guilty to a charge of theft- third degree. She was sentenced to two years in prison on that count, consecutive to the lottery fraud sentence; the prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation for two years. McBurney was ordered to pay $1,024.01 restitution to HyVee on the theft charge. She was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. No monetary judgment was entered on the lottery fraud surcharge. Travis Frederick Venteicher, 28, of Grand Junction was sentenced to one year in jail, with all but two days suspended, after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. He was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Venteicher was also sentenced to two days in jail on a charge of possession of marijuana; all but was day was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Venteicher was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge on the possession charge; both were suspended. A charge of possession of contraband in a correctional facility was dismissed. He must pay an amount not to exceed $1,000 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $1,000 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Gary Paul Sinkular, 52, of Jeffrson was sentenced t seven days in jail after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- first offense, amended from possession of marijuana- third offense. The jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. He must pay restitution not to exceed $500 for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Rich Eugene Tuhn, 51, of Grand Junction, driving while license barred; and Todd Edward Geisler, 49, of Jefferson, operating while intoxicated. Trial dates were set for April 5 in both cases.
