The Churdan public library recently added an interactive play table from after-mouse®. The purchase was possible with the funding from two grants.
The first grant, for $5,000, was through funding provided to the State Library of Iowa from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), administered by the institute of Museum and Library Services.
The second grant was the library’s fifth America’s Farmers Grow Communities grant. That grant program, funded by the Bayer Fund, allows farmers to nominate a non-profit organization to receive up to $5,000 in funds. Duane Miller of rural Churdan nominated the library for the grant.
The interactive table allows up to four people to enjoy any of 21 different games. Particular favorites with the children are Bubbles, air hockey, Paint, word match and puzzles. The table provides an excellent opportunity for children to interact with others, or with adults, library director Shari Minnehan said.
