Greene County Extension & Outreach is hosting a series of Ag Coffee events, bringing farmers and other agricultural professionals together for an informal discussion on current Ag topics.
The first Ag Coffee is slated for Thursday, Dec. 9, from 9:30 to 11 am at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds.
The topic will be carbon credits with Alexis Stevens, ISU farm management specialist. “There’s a lot of discussion in the ag community about carbon credits right now. Producers have a lot of questions from what is required, who can participate, how do you get paid, and what does “additionality” really mean. We will discuss the risks and rewards of participating in the voluntary carbon markets”, Stevens said.
The coffee precedes a private pesticide applicator training which will begin at 1:30 pm at Clover Hall. The December meeting is sponsored by Home State Bank. Reservations are required. Persons who want more information or to register can call the Extension office at 515-386-2138.
