The Greene County public health department anticipates receiving a shipment of pediatric (ages 5-11) Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine Nov. 8. More information about scheduling appointments for children ages 5-11 will be provided when plans are finalized, public health director Becky Wolf said.
Wolf said on Nov. 8 that 27 cases of Covid-19 have been diagnosed in the past seven days; the total number of cases in the county is now 1,405. The seven-day positivity rate for testing is 7.2 percent, increased from 5.7 percent last week; the 14-day positivity rate is 6.0 percent. The level of community transmission is still rated as HIGH.
There are still opportunities for adults to get influenza and/or Covid-19 vaccines at Greene County public health clinics through early November. All three brands of Covid-19 vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson) are available for anyone who is not vaccinated, partially vaccinated, or in need of a booster dose.
Clinics will be held at the public health office at Greene County Medical Center, Level B, on the following dates:
- Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 9 am to 12 pm
- Thursday, Nov. 18, from 1 to 4 pm

According to the Iowa Department of Public Heath, 53.1 percent of Greene County residents are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. The breakdown by age is: 65+, 90.1 percent; 60-64, 71.1 percent; 50-59, 64.5 percent; 40-49, 51.7 percent; 30-39, 47.4 percent; 20-29, 45.6 percent; 18-18, 41.8 percent, 16-17, 32.7 percent; and 12-15, 34.4 percent.
