Greene County (8-1) hosts OABCIG (8-1) Friday night

Greene County faced off against the Roland-Story Norsemen in the first round of Class 2A football playoffs last Friday night, taking the win 55-14 and advancing on to the second round this week.
The Rams will host defending Class 1A state champion, OABCIG on Friday, October 29. Both teams sport 8-1 records.

Roland-Story had a 3-5 record going into playoffs, giving the 7-1 Rams the upper hand on their home field Friday night.
The game started with a 68-yard drive by the Norsemen, putting them on the scoreboard just two minutes into the game. Missing the two-point conversion, Roland-Story was up 6-0, but the Rams responded with Nate Black running 34 yards for a touchdown and a successful PAT by Nathan Behne. The 7-6 score on the board didn’t last long as Patrick Daugherty scored another touchdown with Behne kicking another successful point. Greene County led 14-6 in the first quarter.
The second quarter brought another Black score with a run into the end zone and a PAT by Behne. Roland-Story came back with an in-the-air score, making the score to 21-14 with the Rams still in the lead. With a touchdown by Greene County’s quarterback Bryce Stalder, the score at halftime was 27-14.
The second half brought more points for the Rams, starting with a rushing touchdown from Jackson Morton with a kick by Behne. Black scored another touchdown with Behne achieving another extra point. Patrick Daugherty scored on a five-yard run and Behne’s kick made it 48-14. Rounding out the scoring was Gavin Scheuermann running into the endzone with the extra point added, bringing the score to 55-14.
The Ram offense had 54 yards of offense in the air and rolled to an amazing 528 on the ground. The defense yielded 198 in the air and nine yards on the ground.
Quarterback Bryce Stalder completed five out of nine passes for 54 yards. Richard Daugherty brought down two aerials for 23 yards while Jackson Morton nailed two for 21 yards. Max Riley caught one pass for ten yards.
Black had a big game with 16 carries for 237 yards and three touchdowns. Stalder scrambled 13 times for 134 yards and one TD, Morton ran five times for 55 yards and a TD; Gavin Scheuermann, five for 10 yards for one TD; Patrick Daugherty, 12 for 88 yards and two touchdowns; Lamar Anders, two carries, eight yards; Richard Daugherty, one carry, six yards.
Topping the Ram defense were Patrick Daugherty and Bradyn Smith. Daugherty grabbed two solo and 5.5 tackles. Smith was credited with two solo and five tackles.
Bradyn Smith recovered a fumble. Riley intercepted a pass. Joe Carey fielded a kick for 14 yards. R. Daugherty ran 22 yards with a kick off.
Nathan Behne kicked off three times for 89 yards. Black kicked six times for 270 yards. Behne was perfect in seven PAT kicks. He punted once for 51 yards.
