The Greene County Ram cross country team ran at the state qualifying meet Thursday at the Gowrie Municipal Golf Course. The Rams placed eighth of 14 teams. No Rams qualified for the state meet individually.
Logan Woodruff finished first of the Rams with a time of 18:30 in 36th place, just five seconds ahead of Ethan Frederick who was 38th. Other Ram times and places were Noah Hinote, 44th place, 18:54; Gavyn Winters, 19:15, 53rd; Jayden Carstensen, 19:17, 54th; Jax Carstensen, 19:29, 59th; and Kolby Angell, 19:43, 62nd.
Teams scores were Des Moines Christian 62, Clear Lake 70, Grundy Center/Gladbrook Reinbeck 72, Shenandoah 131, Clarinda 152, Southeast Valley 169, Pocahontas Area 221, Greene County 225, Van Meter 243, Red Oak 250, Treynor 321, South Central Calhoun 350, Woodward Granger 384, and Underwood 409.
The Rams had two girls running. Olivia Shannon ran the course in 23:17, finishing 43rd, and Autumn Stevens finished in 27:35, in 82nd place .
“Although we did not qualify for state I am very proud of the effort of every one of our runners competing today. Just about every one of our runners had a personal best or a season best. Their desire to compete was evident and I am extremely pleased with their effort,” coach Lamoureux said.
