Remain undefeated in Class 2A District 8

The Greene County varsity football team faced off against Clarke on Friday night and took the win 49-3 to increase their season record to 7-1. The Rams finished play in Class 2A District 8 undefeated.
In the opening round of Class 2A playoffs, Greene County (7-1) will host Roland-Story (3-5). Kickoff is at 7 pm. The winner advances to the second round to be contested on Friday, Oct. 29.

The game against Clarke was never in doubt. The Indians put their only points on the scoreboard, a field goal, to take a 3-0 lead. After that, the game belonged to the Rams as they reeled off 49 unanswered points for the victory.
The Ram offense gained 306 yards on the ground and 167 in the air for a total of 473.
Senior quarterback Bryce Stalder completed nine out of 11 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Jackson Morton caught six aerials for 115 yards and one TD. Richard Daugherty grabbed two passes for 26 yards. Jesse Miller nailed a 26-yard pass for a score.
Morton ran five times for 65 yards and two touchdowns. Stalder scrambled seven times for 52 yards and a score. Lamar Anders carried the pigskin 13 times for 92 yards and a TD. Freshman quarterback Camden Strennen ran four times for 16 yards; Gavin Scheuermann gained one yard on five carries. Patrick Daugherty gained 80 yards on seven carries. Anders scored two two-point conversions and Morton added one.
The Ram defense dominated again, limiting Clarke to 31 yards on the ground and one in the air. Michael Rumley recovered two fumbles. Brenner Gallagher returned an interception for 26 yards. Morton turned a pass interception into a 21-yard pick six. John Sprague also intercepted a Clarke pass.
Defensive leaders were Bradyn Smith with five solo and eight tackles plus two QB sacks and Richard Daugherty with four solo and 4.5 tackles.
Other defensive performers were Lamar Anders and Patrick Daugherty, one solo, three tackles; Blake Hamman, one solo, 2.5 tackles; Michael Rumley, two solo, 2.5 tackles. Jesse Miller, one solo, two tackles; Brenner Gallagher, one solo, 1.5 tackles; Daniel Rivera, Nathan Black, Gavin Scheuermann and Max Riley, one solo; Stalder, one tackle
Nathan Behne converted one out of two PAT kicks. Nathan Black kicked off eight times for 366 yards. He missed a field goal attempt and went 1/2 in PAT kicks. Black punted twice for 96 yards.
