The Greene County football team came away with a win for homecoming after facing Red Oak Friday night, scoring 55 points and holding the Tigers to zero. This brings the Rams to 5-1 for the season.
The Rams scored in each quarter of the game, with 14 points in the first quarter and 21 in the second putting them up 35-0 late in the second quarter which put the continuous clock rule into effect for the second half.
Ram quarterback Bryce Stalder led the way with six touchdowns, four passing touchdowns and two on the ground. Statistically, Stalder had a good night through the air going 13/15 for 222 yards while rushing the ball nine times for 85 yards. Stalder spread the ball out to Jackson Morton (four catches, 76 yards, two TDs), Max Riley (two catches, 66 yards, one TD), Richard Daugherty (four catches, 49 yards, one TD), Brenner Gallagher (one catch, ten yards) and Jesse Miller (two catches, 21 yards).
The Rams rushed the ball effectively against the Tigers to the tune of 229 rushing yards. Jackson Morton and Lamar Anders both found the end zone on rushing plays of two yards. Nathan Black carried eight times for 39 yards; Anders, seven carries, 41 yards; Patrick Daugherty, four carries, 38 yards; Morton, four carries, 20 yards; Gavin Scheuermann, two carries, three yards and Gallagher, one carry, four yards.
Defensively, Riley and Gallagher created two turnovers through interceptions with one each and Patrick Daughtery recovered a fumble by Red Oak. Bradyn Smith, Michael Rumley and Nathan Black topped the tackle chart. Smith and Rumley had three solo, five tackles while Black grabbed four solo, 4.5 tackles.
Other defensive performers were: Gabe Ebersole, two solo, three tackles; Morton, two solo;Anders, one solo, two tackles; Blake Hamman, one solo, 2.5 tackles; Daniel Rivera, one solo, two tackles; Stalder, one solo; Riley, Mason Stream and Scheuermann, one tackle; R Daugherty and Miller, one solo, 1.5 tackles;
The Tigers were outgained by 405 yards of total offense, only managing 46 total yards to the Rams 451 total yards. After a good night against the Tigers, the Rams improved to 3-0 in district play.
Next up for the Rams will be Senior Night during the final regular season home game Oct. 8 against the Shenandoah Mustangs who are currently 1-5 on the season. Kickoff is for 7 pm at Linduska Field.
