Tailgating 101 instructor Todd Gordon started the Sept. 8 adult education class with students sampling Masters Golf Tournament pimento cheese sandwiches. They then moved to the Blackstone griddle where Gordon showed students how to make a sausage egg dish perfect for a morning tailgate. Next, he made loose meat sandwiches on the Blackstone Griddle using the original Maid-Rite recipe from Taylors restaurant in Marshalltown. The evening ended with smoked bologna sliders from his Traeger pellet grill.
Recipes were provided to participants, who enjoyed good food and socializing.
The Greene County Schools adult education department thanked Gordon for demonstrating and Fareway for providing supplies.
The next class, Tailgating 102, is with Nate Nelson, who will teach which rubs to use on different cuts of meat. This class is Tuesday, Sept. 21, from 6:30 to 8 pm. Click here for information and registration.
