Following are excerpts of daily activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Tuesday, Aug. 31: At 8:17 am the sheriff and deputes investigated a truck stuck in the river near 237th Street and Jordan Ave in Jackson Township. Richard Tuhn, 43, of Jefferson was cited for operating a motor vehicle on a protected waterway. At 10:30 am a deputy investigated a gas drive off at Paton Pit Stop in Paton. At 12:58 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 300 block of Hager St in Grand Junction.
Monday, Aug. 30 – At 4:54 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 100 block of W. Percival St, Rippey. At 8:06 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 700 block of School St in Churdan. At 9:01 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1000 block of 230th St in Jackson Township.
Sunday, Aug. 29: At 6:38 am a deputy investigated a complaint of vicious dogs in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton. At 9:51 am a deputy investigated a complaint of a vicious dog in the 900 block of Jay St in Churdan.
Saturday, Aug. 28: At 5:09 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1000 block of N. 16th St in Grand Junction.
Friday, Aug. 27: At 8:26 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1700 block of C Ave in Scranton Township. At 11:45 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on County Road N-65 (D Ave) near 130th St in Cedar Township. At 6:52 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 200 block of Cartwright St in Rippey. At 9:44 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment at Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction.
Thursday, Aug. 26: At 8:27 am a deputy investigated an assault in the 600 block of S. 13th St in Grand Junction. At 12:31 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 200 block of E. Percival St in Rippey. At 5:38 pm a deputy investigated a theft of services in the 900 block of Eagle St in Scranton. At 7:33 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 900 block of Locust St in Scranton.
Wednesday, Aug. 25: At 2:50 pm a deputy removed an eagle that was struck by a car on I Ave near Highway 4 at Churdan. At 4:16 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on County Road P-33 (S Ave) near 200th St. Debra Betz, 57, of Churdan struck a deer with a 2013 Dodge Journey, causing an estimated $800 damage to the vehicle. At 5:19 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in Paton. At 9:27 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 700 block of Harding St in Churdan.

Monday, Aug. 23: At 9:24 am a deputy investigated a complaint of a drone flying from Scranton to Jefferson. At 8:53 pm a deputy arrested Nickquael Oliver, 23, of Des Moines for driving while license barred, false information for a citation, and interference with official acts on Highway 30 at C Ave west of Scranton*.
Sunday, Aug. 22: At 12:37 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 200 block of S. 19th St in Grand Junction. At 1:16 am a deputy arrested Jeffrey Gibbons, 53, of Madrid on Highway 30 near Pioneer Ave east of Jefferson for operating while a motor vehicle while under the influence*.
Saturday, Aug. 21: At 4:17 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 1400 block of Highway 144 at Grand Junction. At 5:13 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1100 block of Livingston St in Churdan.
Friday, Aug. 20: At 4 am a deputy investigated a complaint of an adult contributing alcohol to a minor. At 9:33 pm a deputy assisted a conservation officer with trying to locate a juvenile at Spring Lake. At 9:52 pm a deputy attempted to locate a reported underage party on the river near 283rd St and R Ave in Franklin Township.
Thursday, Aug. 19: At 1:41 pm a deputy and the Churdan fire department responded to a hay bale fire in the 600 block of 170th St in Kendrick Township. At 9:05 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a search warrant in the 200 block of N Oak St. Michelle Cook, 21, of Jefferson was arrested on warrants for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia*.
Wednesday, Aug. 18: At 8:04 am a deputy and the Jefferson fire department responded to a tractor fire in the 1200 block of Pioneer Ave in Hardin Township. The fire was put out prior to the arrival of the fire department with minimal damage to the tractor. At 8:19 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 800 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. At 11:56 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 2300 block of 170th St in Junction Township.
Tuesday, Aug. 17: At 10:48 am a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident in the 500 block of Highway 4 in Dawson Township. Randall Schwartz, 65, of Nebraska was driving a semi-tractor and trailer southbound when the trailer buckled in the middle. The Iowa Department of Transportation was called to assist with the investigation. At 5:11 pm a deputy arrested Danny Fees, 30, of Des Moines on warrants for two counts of possession of a controlled substance- second offense*.
Monday, Aug. 16: At 8:46 am a deputy assisted with cattle out on County Road P-14 (J Ave) and County Road E-53 (240th St) west of Jefferson. At 9:05 am a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on Highway 30 near Pioneer Ave east of Jefferson. Scott Vonnahme, 27, of Wall Lake was westbound driving a 2019 Dodge Ram 2500 with a trailer. David Vanzee, 34, of Ankeny was following Vonnahme, driving a 2015 Ford cargo van. Vonnahme stopped for construction work. Vanzee didn’t see Vonnahme slow to a stop and struck the rear of the trailer. There were no injuries Damage to Vannahme’s truck and trailer was estimated at $5,000. Damage to Vanzee’s van was estimated at $5,000. Vanzee was cited for following too close. At 12:10 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 800 block of High St in Scranton. At 6:02 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in the 400 block of E. Rebecca St in Grand Junction. Daniel Newton, 31, of Grand Junction was arrested at the scene on a warrant for a violation of probation*.
Sunday, Aug. 15: At 9:02 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a traffic stop in the 1500 block of N. Elm St. Andre Furnace, 36, of Texas was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia*. At 3:19 pm a deputy, Rippey fire, and Grand Junction fire responded to a baler fire that spread to CRP ground.
Saturday, Aug. 14: At 2:45 pm a deputy assisted the Perry PD with locating a juvenile in Rippey. At 3:17 pm a deputy investigated a dog bite in the 2300 block of County Road E-57 in Rippey.
Friday, Aug. 13: At 12:34 am a deputy and Churdan fire responded to a grass fire in the 100 block of 120th St in Cedar Township. At 6:54 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a complaint of kids climbing into elementary school. At 8:09 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1000 block of Grant St in Scranton.
Thursday, Aug. 12: At 1:59 am a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of West Gallup Rd in Jefferson. Jessica Duong, 29, of Jefferson was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence- second offense, criminal mischief- second degree, operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, driving while license denied or revoked, and open container.*
Wednesday, Aug. 11: At 2:35 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an arrest in the 600 block of West Lincoln Way. At 8:29 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 600 block of North St in Churdan. At 9:05 pm a deputy and the Jefferson fire department responded to grass fire in the 1100 block of 330th St in Franklin Township. At 11:52 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 700 block of Lincoln St in Scranton.
Tuesday, Aug. 10: At 1:57 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 200 block of Hager St in Grand Junction.
Monday, Aug. 9: At 12:36 pm a deputy investigated a driving complaint on Highway 30 near Highway 144 at Grand Junction. Kyle Huinker, 50, of South Dakota was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.* At 6:01 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of illegal dumping in the 500 block of 130th St in Cedar Township. At 10:08 pm a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 30 near L Ave west of Jefferson. The deputy located a suspected controlled substance in the vehicle. Charges are pending.
Sunday, Aug. 8: At 12:48 am a deputy investigated a complaint of an injured goose in the 2300 block of Highway 25 in Willow Township. At 12:59 am the sheriff investigated a fire alarm in the courthouse. At 6:37 pm a deputy investigated a hit-and-run accident in the 300 block of Irving St in Scranton. Jon Bushman, 44, of Scranton was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence- second offense.* The accident is still under investigation. At 9:47 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 700 block of Hill St in Churdan.
Saturday, Aug. 7: At 12:24 am a deputy assisted with a power pole on fire near 210th St and Orchard Ave in Hardin Township. At 6:14 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 700 block of Hill St in Churdan.
Friday, Aug. 6: At 9:44 am a deputy investigated suspicious activity on the bike trail near the river bridge. At 10 am a deputy investigated an assault in the 1600 block of 257th St in Grant Township. At 4:20 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 200 block of Pearl St in Farlin.

Wednesday, Aug. 4: At 2:10 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 600 block of North St in Churdan. At 4:18 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 1100 block of State St in Scranton. At 7:35 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 900 block of X Ave in Junction Township.
Tuesday, Aug. 3: At 8:47 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 200 block of Lovejoy St in Rippey. At 9:16 pm a deputy assisted with cattle on the roadway on Highway 4 near 330th St in Franklin Township.
Monday, Aug. 2: At 7:39 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 200 block of W. Main St in Grand Junction. At 11:36 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on highway 144 near 130th St at Paton. Paul Kutz, 73, of Rockwell City struck a deer with a 2016 Chevy Equinox. The estimated damage to the car was $800.
Sunday, Aug. 1: At 4:35 am a deputy investigated suspicious activity at Henderson Park. At 7:02 am a deputy assisted with a horse on the roadway in the 1700 block of J Ave in Greenbrier Township. At 6:36 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 500 block of E. Elizabeth in Grand Junction. At 7:30 pm a deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle driver who fled, reaching speeds of around 110 mph. The Jefferson PD assisted. Ryan Brown, 48, of Jefferson was arrested for eluding, interference with official acts, and reckless driving.*
