Amber Lawton of Jefferson was among the first Greene County resident to claim honors in judging at the 2021 Iowa State Fair.
Lawton placed second in the peaches division of the Fleet Farm canned fruits competition, judge Aug. 10, prior to the opening of the fair.
Entries were judged on appearance, selection of products and food safety.
Lawton placed third in the sweet pickle and third in the zucchini categories of the Fleet Farm canned relishes competition, also judged Aug. 10.
Entries in that contest were judged on flavor, consistency, appearance and food safety.
