In Greene County district court Jonathan Phillip Michael Kennedy, 33, of Bagley was sentenced Aug. 11 to 15 years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense. He was also sentenced to 15 years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense. The prison terms are consecutive; both were suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Corrections for three years. He is to reside in a residential treatment facility for 180 days or until maximum benefits are achieved. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. A judgment was entered against Kennedy for an amount not to exceed $700 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. He was assessed $55 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. A cases in magistrate court in which Kennedy was charged with theft- fifth degree was dismissed. A judgment was entered for $60 court costs.
Noah Adam Bowen, 19, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment Aug. 9 after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. He was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Bowen must pay a $100 civil penalty and restitution not to exceed $300 for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $136.50. (Sentencing: McCarville)
