Funeral services will be held Aug. 13 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson for Bea Tucker, 96, of Jefferson.
The Rev John Gerald will be celebrant at the Mass of Christian Burial. Sheilah Pound will be soloist, accompanied by Lois Last. Interment will be at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Jefferson.
Beulah Arlene Rasmussen Tucker was born May 23, 1924, in Griswold (Cass County). She was the eighth of nine children born to Hjalmer Peter Rasmussen and Gina Caroline Simonsen. Her father was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and immigrated to the United States, settling in Southwest Iowa, where he met and married Gina.
Bea graduated from Atlantic High School in 1942, and married 2nd Lieutenant Frank Tucker, Jr at Camp Chafee, AR, on August 13, 1943. Following Frank’s military World War II service, and graduation from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 1949, they returned to their hometown of Atlantic, accepting a position with Rex Pharmacy. Frank and Bea purchased Lyon Drug in Jefferson in 1953. Frank owned and operated Tucker Pharmacy for nearly 30 years.
Bea was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and was active in many local and civic organizations. Frank and Bea raised their three children in Jefferson.
Bea died on March 21, 2021, at the Greene County Medical Center at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, and son Ted, as well as her parents, and eight brothers and sisters.
Frank and Bea’s survivors include their son Tom and his wife Georgia of Windermere, FL; and their daughter Julie of Cave Creek, AZ. Bea has four grandsons, Tony of Newton, MA, Tyler of Fairfax; VA, Tyler James of Seattle, WA, and Eric of Phoenix, AZ; and two great-grandsons, Miles and Zane, sons of Tony and Anita.
Memorials may be sent to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson.
