Dr. Laurie Connolly, chief medical officer at Greene County Medical Center, announces a collaboration with SCP Health, a physician-led organization committed to patient-care excellence. With that collaboration, Mark Buettner, DO, has been hired as the emergency department director to oversee day-to-day operations of the emergency department at the medical denter.
“The top priority at Greene County Medical Center is to provide the absolute best care for patients in all departments, including when patients need it most, during an emergency,” states Connolly. “Our goal continues to be to serve our patients for generations to come. By partnering with patient-centered organizations like SCP Health, our tradition of providing exceptional care will continue into the future.”
SCP physicians are emergency medicine (EM) trained, which means they have additional education and experience in dealing with emergent situations and trauma. EM physicians get extra experience by participating in a three- to four-year residency program. Many of the physicians providing care at the medical center’s emergency department are also board certified in EM. Physicians who complete an EM residency demonstrate core knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to practice EM at the highest standards.
Dr. Buettner has more than 22 years of experience in EM, including advanced wound care experience. He has provided medical services to other UnityPoint Health hospitals in Iowa, allowing him to be well versed and knowledgeable of EPIC, Greene County Medical Center’s electronic health record system, and MyChart, the patient portal for access to health records.
