Thursday, July 29: At 4:31 pm officers arrested Dalton Lee Weber, 22, of Jefferson, on an active Ogden PD arrest warrant for domestic abuse assault (serious misdemeanor)*.

Tuesday, July 27: At 10:31 am a complainant reported her vehicle had been egged while parked at the Greene County Middle School. The officer is investigating. At 1:23 pm a complainant advised she had caught a stray dog in the 300 block of W. Harrison St. The officer placed the dog in the animal holding facility. At 2:39 pm staff at the medical center emergency room requested an officer for a dog bite. The officer learned that an in-home health care worker had been conducting a home visit. While in the residence she was bitten on the calf by a German shepherd. The officer followed up with the animal’s owner and determined the animal had current rabies vaccinations. The officer advised the owner that according to city animal ordinances, the animal is now deemed as an illegal animal and must leave the city limits. At 3:52 pm the Boone County sheriff’s office requested Jefferson officers to locate a vehicle and driver from Jefferson who had been involved in a domestic situation in Boone County. Boone county later advised officers to end the search, as arrest warrants were being gathered for the subject there.
Monday, July 26: At 12:45 am a complainant reported a pony running through yards in the 1000 block of Westwood Drive. The officer was able to catch the animal, but could not locate an owner. A local family agreed to board the pony until an owner can be determined. At 2:44 am during a traffic stop at N. Elm St and American Ave, the the officer could smell marijuana in the vehicle. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, a smoking device and 20 grams of marijuana were located. The officer also located a vaping device on a juvenile female passenger. The officer has sent charges to the juvenile court for two 14-year-old females and a 16-year-old female for possession of marijuana (serious misdemeanor) and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)*. The officer also issued three curfew violation citations, one citation for possession of vaping product underage, and one citation for violation of minor’s restricted driver’s license. At 8:01 pm staff at Oly’s Corner advised a male had left on a motorcycle without paying for his fuel. The officer is attempting to reach the subject and advise him to return and pay for the $13.83 in fuel.
Sunday, July 25: At 1:08 pm an officer was called to a residence in the 500 block of N. Wilson Ave for a reported domestic situation occurring there. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male for domestic abuse assault impeding air flow (Class D felony) and possession of alcohol by underage person (simple misdemeanor)*. At 1:37 pm a traffic stop resulted in Sean Patrick Phillip Shell, 45, of Jefferson being arrested on an outstanding JPD warranty for possession of marijuana (serious misdemeanor)*. At 6:10 pm an officer investigated a hit and run accident that occurred in the 700 block of W. Russell St. At 2020 Chevrolet Equinox owned by Margaret Hamilton of Jefferson was parked and unoccupied at the Jefferson animal holding facility. Hamilton noticed damage to the vehicle when she returned to it. Damage was estimated at $750.

Saturday, July 24: At 1:29 am an officer located a group of juveniles at Sparky’s One Stop who were out past curfew. The officer identified them, contacted their parents, and made sure they got home safely. At 12:30 pm JPD officers and a Greene County deputy went to an apartment in the 300 block of E. Lincoln Way checking for a wanted person. While at the residence the officers located suspected controlled substances and paraphernalia. The items were taken as evidence and will be sent to the DCI laboratory for testing. Charges are pending the completion of laboratory tests. Conar Hornsby was also located at the residence, and arrested on Greene and Guthrie County arrest warrants. At 2:11 pm a caller reported concrete had been spilled on the roadway at Lincoln Way and Elm St. An officer contacted a city employee, who arranged to have the cement cleaned up. At 4:18 pm an officer made contact with a female in the 300 block of E. Lincoln Way and noticed her vehicle was parked nearby. The officer determined the female did not have a valid driver’s license and that she had driven to the location. The officer cited Jessica Waddell for driving while license suspended, revoked, denied or cancelled.
Thursday, July 22: At 3:05 pm an officer arrested Ian Graves, 22, of Jefferson on an outstanding JPD arrest warrant for providing alcohol to underage persons (simple misdemeanor)*.
Wednesday, July 21: At 3:34 pm a complainant advised of three turkeys in her yard in the 700 block of S. Vine St. The officer spoke to subjects in the area and advised them they can not be kept in town. They were removed from the city.
Tuesday, July 20: At 5 pm an officer investigated a backing accident in the 300 block of E. Harrison St. Glenda Nunez of Jefferson was backing her 2005 Toyota Camry from a private driveway and struck a parked 2013 Buick Encore owned by Stacey Goleman of Perry. Nunez was cited for unsafe backing upon a highway. Her vehicle was not damaged. Damage to Goleman’s vehicle was estimated at $1,500.
Monday, July 19: At 6:47 am a Greene County Schools employee reported an injured fawn at the Linduska Field. The officers were unable to capture the injured animal before it ran into nearby tall grassy areas. At 11:53 am a complainant reported damage to flowers in his yard in the 600 block of S. Locust Street. He advised the officer neighbors had witnessed two subjects damaging the flowers. The complainant did not wish to pursue criminal charges in the matter, but requested the officer speak to the subjects and parents. The officer did so and advised them they are not welcome back on the property.
Sunday, July 18: At 12:22 am a complainant reported a stray brown and black dog running loose near the intersection of W. Russell St and S. Elm Sts. An owner for the animal was located. They came to the area and caught their dog. At 9:46 am while on patrol an officer located a German shepherd running loose near Kelso Park. The officer found the owner was looking for the animal and it was returned. At 12:39 pm a complainant requested an officer respond to her residence to take a report of harassment involving a minor. Th officer is investigating. At 7:46 pm an officer was dispatched to Wild Rose Casino for a report of a possible fake identification card and passport having been used by a customer. The customer had already left the property when the officer arrived. The documents with be turned over to proper authorities during the next business day.
Saturday, July 17: At 10:55 am a complainant reported finding a deceased stray cat in his yard in the 400 block of N. Cedar St. The officer found nothing suspicious and disposed of the carcass. At 4:48 pm the Greene County Law Enforcement Center received a 911 call from a female reporting she was at Wild Rose Casino. The caller was difficult to understand and two Jefferson officers responded. While responding the officers were advised of an Iowa State Trooper at the casino attempting to stop a vehicle in the parking lot and the driver was refusing to yield. The officers arrived and attempted to assist the trooper with the stop. Prior to the officers’ arrival, it was learned the suspect vehicle had struck a parked vehicle in the parking lot. The suspect vehicle did not stop and exited the parking lot while being followed by units with lights and sirens activated. A pursuit of the driver in a black pickup truck occurred on Highway 4 northbound. The trooper was assisted in the pursuit by two JPD officers and two Greene County sheriff’s deputies. The speed of the vehicle ranged from approximately 45 MPH to 70 MPH during the pursuit. The pursuit was concluded on N Avenue near 160th St when the suspect vehicle was contacted by the State Patrol vehicle. As a result, Brittany Louise Hansen, 28, of Boone, was arrested by the Iowa State Patrol and for operating while intoxicated, eluding, reckless driving, and interference with official acts*. She was also cited for excessive speed, driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway, failure to provide proof of financial liability, and failure to wear safety belt. At 5:25 pm an officer was requested to respond to the Grand Junction post office for a report of an older male yelling at a minor female trying to get the female to leave with him. Upon arrival the officer found the male was the legal guardian of the minor and the situation was a family dispute. The officer mediated the situation.
Friday, July 16: At 12:16 am a complainant reported he had been assaulted while at Wild Rose Casino. The officer is investigating. At 1:34 am a complainant reported seeing several juveniles skating on S. Elm St near with intersection with Brackett St. The officer responded and located four juveniles. The officer contacted their parents and the proper steps were taken. At 9:35 am an officer was dispatched to Casey’s General Store for a report of theft. The store manager reported having found on security video evidence of a male having stolen a bottle of Crown Royal Apple flavored whiskey, valued at $29.99. The officer is investigating. At 10 am Annette Russell of Grand Junction reported her red, 2019 Dodge Ram pickup truck had been legally parked in the 200 block of South Wilson Ave on the previous day. Sometime between the hours of 7 and 9 pm, an unknown driver struck her vehicle and left the scene, causing approximately $1,500 in damage. The officer is investigating. At 5:14 pm an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of W. Harrison St for three separate 911 calls reporting an altercation between two adults and a minor who appeared to be their child. The three were reported to be in a black truck leaving the area as the officer responded. The officer searched the area, but with the limited information the vehicle or it’s occupants could not be identified. At 10:18 pm a complainant reported having caught a stray white dog in the 500 block of W. Lincoln Way. The officer picked up the white husky and took it to the animal shelter.
Thursday, July 15: Routine activity reported.
Wednesday, July 14: At 9:47 am a complainant advised of a fox in his yard in the 500 block of E. Adams St. He advised the animal is aggressive towards his dogs. The officer checked with the county conservation director and Iowa DNR officers. Both advised the homeowner would need to contact a nuisance trapping company to remove the fox. At 11:51 am management at Dunkers by Matt reported someone dumping trash in the dumpster there. The officer is investigating. At 3:43 pm a stray dog was dropped off at the LEC. The officer placed the dog in the animal holding facility. At 4:28 pm a subject advised he came out of the courthouse and his vehicle is gone from where he had parked it. The officer located his vehicle on the other side of the square. The subject came out a different door of the courthouse and could not see his car. At 5:19 pm a Jefferson resident reported falling victim to a phone scam. A caller advised the victim she worked for Alliant Energy, and she was behind on her utility bill. The caller advised unless she immediately paid $167.70, her power would be shut off. The victim provided her debit card number to the caller and was advised the debt was settled. The subject contacted their bank after thinking about the situation and learned $500 had been removed from their account. The bank closed the account and issued a new card.
Tuesday, July 13: At 1:29 am a resident reported her juvenile child had received a Snap Chat from a friend, who was threatening suicide. The officer made contact with the parents of the juvenile and informed them of the issue. The parents were taking proper steps from that point. At 11:54 am a complainant brought a kitten she found to the LEC. The officer placed it in the animal holding facility. At 12:11 pm a complainant reported the lights and crossing arms were activated at the Grimmell Rd railroad crossing, but no trains were coming. The information was passed to the UPRR. At 8:44 pm an officer assisted a deputy with a one-vehicle accident on S. Mulberry St, just south of 250th St. The deputy handled the accident.
Monday, July 12: At 6:52 am an officer investigated a rear end collision at Chestnut St and Lincoln Way. A 2006 Chevrolet K2500, owned and operated by Adam Huen of Jefferson was stopped at the posted stop sign. A 2008 Hyundai Entourage, owned by Hermelinda Zuniga of Jefferson and operated by Katarina Stilson of Paton, struck the rear of the Huen vehicle. The Huen vehicle had a reported $1,500 in damages, while the Zuniga vehicle suffered a reported $5,000 in damages. Stilson was charged with driving while license revoked* and cited for fail to stop in assured clear distance ahead. At 5:19 pm officers were called to the 400 block of W. Adams St for a dog bite. The officers learned a female was walking her Boston Terrier on leash when two German Shepherds approached her. They began to attack her dog, as four other dogs ran towards her. A male was chasing behind the animals. The officer learned the running animals belonged at 308 N. Oak St and had gotten loose from the owner. The terrier was deceased when the officers arrived. Two German shepherds were deemed illegal animals after the attack, according to animal control ordinances. The owner was advised the two shepherds were to leave the city limits, or be euthanized. The owner elected to remove the animals from Jefferson and provided the officer with information and phone numbers where they would be going. Larry Jon Hovick was cited for animals running at large-prohibited (six counts). All animals involved are current on rabies vaccinations. At 9:03 pm a complainant reported a careless driver spinning the vehicle’s tires near Maple and W. Lincoln Way. The officer was able to locate the vehicle on Highway 30 and Elm St and locked the vehicle’s speed on radar. The driver admitted to spinning his tires, which was the first report. The officer issued Brayden Greimann of Grand Junction citations for excessive speed and careless driving.
Sunday, July 11: At 1:03 am an officer assisted a deputy with a traffic stop at highway 30 and N. Elm St. Two female occupants of the vehicle were providing officers with false information. The officer was given permission to search the vehicle and one female advised the officer of a small amount of marijuana in her purse. The officer arrested Tijera Takeny McQueen, 21, of Des Moines for possession of marijuana (serious misdemeanor)*. The deputy handled all charges for the driver.
Saturday, July 10: At 3:11 am an officer assisted a Greene County deputy with a vehicle pursuit that had begun on 230th St. The subject subsequently crashed the fleeing vehicle and ran from the area on foot. He was not located at that time. At 9:28 am an officer assisted a sheriff’s deputy near 310th St and I Ave in Greenbrier Township after the deputy located the subject who had eluded officers earlier in the day. The subject ran from the deputy on foot, and was subsequently apprehended by the officer. Charles Bradshaw II was transported to the Greene County jail and charged with various crimes by the sheriff’s office. At 12:24 pm staff at Regency Park reported a resident had left the building in a wheelchair and was being uncooperative with staff members. An officer located the subject in the 100 block of E. Vest St. After a conversation with the subject, she agreed to return to the facility.
Friday, July 9: At 1:41 pm staff at Greene County Medical Center requested an officer at the emergency room for a patient who was being uncooperative with staff members. Officers assisted until the situation was under control. At 6:25 pm a complainant reported three domesticated turkeys running at large in the 700 block of S. Vine St. An officer located the owner and subsequently returned them.
Wednesday, July 7: *****Lab results came back positive on items removed during the execution of a search warrant on a vehicle in the impound lot on 04/21. The officer has requested arrest warrants for Derek Eugene Ott, 39, of Fort Dodge for possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine (serious misdemeanors) and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)*. *****An officer has finished an investigation that began on 06/06 at Hy-Vee. It was reported that underage persons had an adult purchase alcohol for them at the business and deliver it to them in the parking lot. The officer has sent juvenile charges to the court for one 14-year-old male and two females, ages 15 and 17, for possession of alcohol under legal age*.
Tuesday, July 6: Routine activity reported.
Monday, July 5: At 12:15 pm a complainant requested an officer at a residence in the 300 blok of N. Cedar St for four volunteer marijuana plants growing in the backyard. The officer removed the plants and disposed of them. At 3:19 pm a traffic stop at N. Elm and American Ave resulted in Brandon Lee Kious of Jefferson being cited for driving while license suspended*. Another driver arrived to pick up Kious and the officer cited Royce Christopher Gonnelly of Jefferson for failure to have a valid driver’s license. There was also an outstanding arrest warrant for Kious for two counts of probation violation*. The officer arrested him and transported him to the LEC. At 5:59 pm staff at Oly’s Corner reported a motorcycle driver left without paying for $18.67 in fuel. The officer is investigating.
Sunday, July 4: At 10:23 pm a complainant reported fireworks being set off in the 600 block of N. Olive St. An officer located the subjects who had been lighting them and determined that they were not intending to light any more. At 11:33 pm a complaint reported fireworks being set off near W. Russell and S. Maple Sts. An officer located the subjects who had been lighting them and advised them not to light anymore. At 11:43 pm a complainant reported a fire inside a dumpster at Twiins Shoppe. The fire was extinguished by the Jefferson fire department. The cause of the fire was believed to be spent fireworks.
Saturday, July 3: At 8:53 pm a complainant reported fireworks being set off in the 600 block of N. Olive St that were disturbing her pets. An officer responded to the area and heard numerous fireworks. It could not be determined which ones were disturbing the complainant’s pets. At 9:01 pm a complainant reported that an unknown person had damaged his door, and possibly attempted to gain entrance to his residence. Damage to a storm door was estimated at $50.At 9:40 pm an anonymous caller reported fireworks being set off in the area of E. Washington and N. Olive Sts. This was one of many similar complaints. Officers spoke to several individuals about the city ordinance in regards to fireworks. At 11:37 pm a complainant reported fireworks being set off in the 800 block of E. Lincoln Way. An officer responded but did not locate the source of the fireworks.
Friday, July 2: At 4:29 pm an anonymous caller reported a small trailer parked in violation of city ordinance in the 500 block of E. Clark St. An officer located the owner, who subsequently moved it onto private property. At 6:10 pm staff at Wild Rose Casino reported there was a subject in the casino who had previously signed a self-exclusion form. An officer responded and charged Heather Gulbranson of Manson with trespass*. At 9:17 pm a complainant reported fireworks being set off in the 400 block of E. Madison St. An officer located the source and advised the subject that fireworks were not permitted within the city without a permit. The subject stopped lighting them. At 10:53 pm an anonymous caller reported fireworks being set off in the 400 block of N. Oak St. An officer located the source and advised the subject that fireworks were not permitted within the city without a permit. The subject stopped lighting them. At 11:40 pm a complainant reported fireworks being set off near the area of W. Lincoln Way and Grimmell Rd. An officer located several people in the area, at multiple residences, who were lighting fireworks. The officer advised subjects of the city ordinance in regards to fireworks.
Thursday, July 1: At 8:46 pm a traffic stop at W. Harrison and S. Pinet Sts resulted in the arrest of Mitchell Kenneth Venteicher, 36, of Jefferson for driving while license barred*.
*All charges are merely an accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
