Greene County district court, week ending July 23

In Greene County district court Whitney Jean Campbell Perez, 23, of Coon Rapids was sentenced July 17 to a term not to exceed 10 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a charge of conspire to manufacture, deliver or possess with intent to deliver methamphetamine, 5 grams or less. She was fined $2,540 with a $381 surcharge. A charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed.

In a later case, Campbell Perez was sentenced to a term not to exceed five years in prison on a charge of possession of contraband in a correctional institution. The prison terms are concurrent, but consecutive to prison terms in two Guthrie County cases. In the second case, she was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge. The court found her unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs. A charge in magistrate court of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. Edward Lee Goff, 19, of Jefferson was sentenced July 21 to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of theft- third degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. He must pay $1,270 victim restitution, an amount not to exceed $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $300 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

In a separate case, Goff was sentenced to five days in jail after he changed his plea to a charge of criminal mischief- third degree. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. Goof must pay $424.17 victim restitution, and an amount not to exceed $400 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. A charge of trespass causing injury or damage greater than $300 was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Jordan Alexis Holley, 19, of Scranton was sentenced to two days in jail July 21 after she changed her plea to guilty to unlawful possession of a prescription drug. The jail time was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. She was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. She must pay an amount not to exceed $400 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. A charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Jamie Lynn Solt, 32, of Fort Dodge was sentenced July 21 to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. All but two days of the jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene Probation for one year. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Solt was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. He must pay an amount not to exceed $400 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Carter Eugene Fetters, 71, of Jefferson was sentenced to two day in jail after he pleaded guilty at arraignment to a charge of possession of marijuana. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Fetters was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. Court costs were $100. Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Charles Andrew Richard Learned, 54, of Gowrie, theft- fourth degree; Shane Franklin Clark, 42, of Paton, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; Zachary Lee Flinn, 28, of Perry, possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense, controlled substance violation, and ongoing criminal conduct- influence enterprise; Damien James Comstock, 25, of Woolstock, driving while license barred; Brian Jeffery Burris, 42, of Scranton, OWI- first offense; and Michael Lee Eastman, 48, of Jefferson, driving while license barred. Trial dates were set for Sept. 28 for every defendant except Flinn. Flinn’s trial date was set for Nov. 2.

Cases were initiated in district court during the week ending July 23 as follows: Anthony Donald Davis, 22, of Scranton, eluding; Brittany Louise Hansen, 28, of Boone, operating while intoxicated and eluding; and Patrick James Cook, 53, of Des Moines, operating while intoxicated.
