Relay for Life slates curbside meal

Although the American Cancer Society is still discouraging large group events due to Covid-19 concerns, cancer hasn’t stopped, and neither has the Greene County Relay for Life committee.

While teams are conducting their own fundraising, the event committee has slated a curbside community barbecue for Friday, July 30, from 5 to 6:30 pm at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson.

The meal will include a grilled burger, chips, a cookie and water. Volunteers will provide car-side, drive-thru service in the community center parking lot. Free will donations will be accepted for the meal.

A “Relay Remembers” event in November will include a luminaria ceremony, a silent auction and a soup supper. Watch for more details.

Area residents who want more information about ways to be involved with Relay for Life can contact event leadership team chair Tori Riley at 515-370-3087 or ACS senior development manager Tina Coleman at tina.coleman@cancer.org
