The Greene County Medical Center board of trustees held its regular monthly board meeting Thursday, June 24. During the meeting a decision was made to table the EGR – Senior Continuum of Care project and focus on providing long term care services within Greene County Medical Center. The decision was based on increased costs of construction and continued COVID-19 uncertainty.
The nursing home industry in the United States faces many challenges and these were amplified during COVID-19. Greene County Medical Center leadership and the trustees will continue to monitor the situation and changes that may occur in the nursing home industry to determine if the project will be pursued in the future.
“What does this mean for Greene County Medical Center and the communities we serve? Greene County Medical Center and our long term care leaders are committed to providing excellent long term care services right here in our community. We will continue to pursue new residents and provide services as needed without any interruption in services,” a medical center spokesperson said.
“Our goal continues to be always here, always caring for many future generations in Greene County,” the spokesperson continued.
