Free day camps to explore several topics

Parents who are looking for something to keep their children busy this summer will find help from ISU Greene County Extension and Greene County Schools. Extension is partnering with Greene County Community Schools to offer free summer day camps the entire month of June! The sessions include lunch.

Fizz, Bubble, Goo will be held Tuesday, June 8 from 9 am – 3 pm. Children will explore the wonders of science by creating amazing chemistry experiments with everyday materials to watch them fizz, bubble, and goo.  Youngsters will learn about matter and its three states, make slime, and observe chemical and physical changes before their eyes! This camp is for Grades 1-3.

Seeds, Sun & Soil will be held Wednesday, June 9, from 9 am – 3 pm. Participants will explore how plants grow from a tiny seed into the products used every day through interactive stations and hands-on experiments. In this camp, youth will learn about the biology and importance of plants.  Youth will do experiments with seeds and growing plants to investigate exactly how plants grow using energy from the sun and nutrients from the soil.  Youth will explore these concepts further through reflection, discussion, and application.  This is a great camp for youth interested in science, agriculture, horticulture, and/or environmental science. This camp is for Grades 4-8.
