Scranton Community Fundraiser plans told

Plans are underway for the 2021 edition of the Scranton Community Fundraiser. The date of Saturday, Sept. 18, has been selected with festivities held at the Scranton Community Center.

Live music from Backroads Roots and a meal catered by Lidderdale Country Store along with Greene County producer groups will kick off the evening. Adult beverages as well as soft drinks will be available. Various auction items for bidding will also be featured.

This joint fundraising effort will benefit several Scranton entities including Scranton Community Center, Scranton fire department, Marchant Memorial Library, and the four Scranton parks: Pond Park, Gazebo Park, Scranton city park, and Scranton School Memorial Park.

Scranton’s first community fundraiser of this kind was held in the fall of 2019, and was deemed a major success. The 2020 event was cancelled due to the pandemic. With the pandemic waning, the 2021 committee members are planning an enjoyable evening for all participants, with benefits going to these local organizations.

More details and ticket information will be released closer to the event but please put the date in your calendar and plan to attend. ~courtesy of The Scranton Journal
