Details are being finalized for the Scranton Kids Fishing Day to be held on Saturday, June 5, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Lost Lagoon /Pond Park in Scranton.
The deadline for registration is Tuesday, May 25. Registration is required so plans can be made for the correct number of youngsters and parents. Ages 4-17 years are invited with a parent or guardian to take part. It’s free fishing weekend thanks to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, so no fishing licenses will be required.
Registration forms are available at the Scranton public library or through Leesa Squibb (515-370-1339) and Ashley Squibb (515-370-3505).
“Because of some very generous people and businesses in the neighborhood, this year’s event is going to be one of the very best that has been offered,” said Leesa. “Please don’t miss out. It is free fishing weekend so parents can join in and enjoy the family atmosphere and togetherness this event brings.”
Lunch will be served with several guest speakers sharing their expertise. Social distancing and masks are required unless the governor changes the regulations before the event. Some very nice door prizes will be handed out that day.
