The Iowa Communications Alliance (ICA) announced May 4 the election of Jamie Daubendiek to the ICA board of directors. Daubendiek is the general manager of Jefferson Telecom, which has served the community since 1938.
Daubendiek was elected by his peers in the independent communications industry to serve a three-year term on the board. Dave Duncan, ICA CEO, commented on Daubendiek’s election to the board, “Jamie has been active in ICA committees for years, including chairing our executive pathways committee. Jefferson Telecom has long been a technology innovator and provider of exceptional service to its customers. Jefferson Telecom is a key part of local community development initiatives and we look forward to Jamie sharing his expertise in these areas with the ICA board and leadership team.”
The ICA firmly believes that rural communications is the tool and industry capable of growing and transforming agriculture, education, health care, communities, and economies in rural Iowa. To that end, the ICA serves as an advocate, catalyst, educator, and resource for Iowa’s rural communications providers as they empower residents, businesses and industry to thrive and succeed. The ICA represents more than 116 community-based telecommunication providers who offer broadband, telephone and digital television service to rural Iowans. Daubendiek’s role on the board of directors will help guide all of those offerings of the association.
“I am honored to be elected to serve and represent the interests of Iowa’s independent telecommunication providers. I look forward to finding ways to advocate for rural America to promote broadband in the state of Iowa. Jefferson Telecom along with many of our peers in the industry have heavily invested in our communities to bring fiber optics and the fastest broadband speeds available to our service areas. I realize the power that a broadband network can bring to a community in regards to economic development initiatives, and I look forward to working with the board for the betterment of our customers.” said Jamie Daubendiek.
Daubendiek has been the general manger of Jefferson Telecom since 2019 and prior to this role, was in a leadership role with the company since 2009. He and his wife Cindi have four children and reside in Jefferson.
