Funeral services were held April 26 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson for Sharon Kay Ostendorf, 81, of Jefferson.
The Rev Dennis Martens, pastor of the church, offered words of comfort. Tracy Ostendorf shared family remembrances. Gary Haupert was soloist, accompanied by Danille Curtis.
Honorary bearers were Judy Larson and the late Eldon Larson, Jane Godwin and the late Jim Godwin, Kathy and John Milligan, Janette and Willard Hostetler, the late Dorothy Lou “Dot” Lawton, and the late Martha “Marty” Scheuermann.
Casket bearers were Benjamin Ostendorf, Zack Ostendorf, Kyle Meinecke, Dan Meinecke, Sean Ostendorf and Keaton Ostendorf. Interment was at the Franklin Township Cemetery near Cooper.
On April 22, 2021, Sharon Kay (Sitterly) Ostendorf passed away with her family by her side at the Greene County Medical Center, Jefferson, Iowa. She was 81 years of age.
Sharon was born to Mildred (Hutchison) and Francis Sitterly at her home east of Cooper, Iowa on December 22, 1939. Sharon graduated from Cooper High School.
On June 29, 1958, she married Richard Ostendorf and they became the parents of five boys. Sharon enjoyed being a mother to five boys; they were everything to her. Sharon was a farm wife and an amazing wedding cake baker.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Mildred Sitterly.
She is survived by her husband, Richard “Dick” Ostendorf; her boys Richard “Rick” (Kathy) Ostendorf, Michael (Ann) Ostendorf, Jeffrey (Sandy) Ostendorf, Terry (Diane) Ostendorf, and Brian “Scot” (Tracy) Ostendorf; grandchildren Sara (Ryan) Ostendorf-Goldsborough, Sean (Kelsey) Ostendorf, Tiffany (Reed) Kemp, Keaton (Sophia) Ostendorf, Benjamin Ostendorf, Michaela (Sam) Van DeBerg, Madelyn Ostendorf, Zachary Ostendorf, Kinsey Ostendorf, and Kassey Ostendorf; great-grandchildren Lucy Kemp and Remy Ostendorf, and two great-grandchildren on-the-way; sister Rita (Darrell) Meinecke; three nephews and one niece; other relatives and friends.
Memorials are suggested to Unity Point Hospice.
