A quintet of Rams competed on the Blue Oval at Drake Stadium in the Drake Relays Thursday during the school day, and the boys and girls teams competed at the Tiger-Knight Relays in Carroll after school.
The best finish at Drake was Bryce Stalder’s eighth place finish in the long jump, a distance of 21’ 2-3/4”. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Nate Black, Stalder, Jaxon Warnke and Jackson Morton placed 11th with a time of 1:02.76. Morton claimed 12th place in the 110m high hurdles in 15.62 seconds. Black competed in the high jump but was unable to clear the opening height.
Brooklynn Olson represented the girls team in the shot put. She placed 25th with a throw of 34’ 5-1/2”.
The Rams were short-staffed at the Tiger-Knight Relays at Carroll Stadium. In girls competition, Emma Hoyle placed second in the discus throw with a hurl of 105’ 4”. She placed fourth on the shot put with a throw of 32- 1”.
On the track, Olivia Shannon, Brianna Osterson, Natalie Heupel and Katrina Heupel teamed up to take third place in the distance medley relay with a time of 4:45.51. Gretah Johnson, Alexa Peters, Annie Twillie and Makala Kafer finished eighth in the 4 X 200m relay with a time of 2:03.98. Katrina Heupel finished third in the 800m run with a tie of 2:44.09, and Kafer took fifth in the 400m dash in 1:09.21.
Logan Woodruff had the best finish on the boys team – second place in the 1600m run with a time of 5:05.68. He also ran the 3200m run, finishing in fourth place with a time of 10:53.65. Daniel Rivera claimed third in the 200m dash in 24.64 seconds.
The distance medley relay team of Rivera, Richard Daugherty, Nathan Wailes and Gavin Scheuermann placed fifth with a time of 4:05.43.
In field events, Josh Ewalt placed fifth in the discus throw at 121’ 9”. He placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 40’- 1/2”.
Complete team scores were not provided. The girls finished in sixth place and the boys finished in eighth place.
