The qualification was tougher this year for a downsized Drake Relays due to pandemic considerations, but the Ram boys still managed to qualify four events for competition at Drake Stadium in Des Moines this coming Thursday. Senior shot-putter Brooklynn Olson is the lone girl to qualify. Her season best is a throw of 33′ 8-1/5″.
The shuttle hurdle relay team of juniors Nathan Black, Bryce Stalder and Jackson Morton, and senior Jaxon Warnke, qualified with a season best time of 1:02.73 set at the Saydel meet April 15. Alternates are sophomore Richard Daugherty and senior Nathan Wailes. The relay is the only Greene County event that qualified automatically, with the “Blue Code” set at 14.6 seconds.
Morton will compete in the 110 high hurdles. Morton’s best time was 15.11 seconds, also set at the Saydel meet.
Two other members of the shuttle hurdle relay team will also compete in field events. Stalder will compete in the long jump, having put out a season best distance of 22′-1/2″. Black will compete in the high jump. His season best is 5′ 10″.
All high school events are being held Thursday, with the long jump, high jump and shuttle hurdle relay in the morning, and the 110 high hurdles in the afternoon.
