Lifelong learning online at ISU

Iowans older than 50 who love to learn can now take advantage of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Iowa State University. All programming is now online with Zoom.

OLLI at ISU is a lifelong learning program for anyone age 50 or older. There are no tests, just an opportunity to learn for the fun of learning alongside other lifelong learners.

Classes are held during fall, winter and spring sessions, in a variety of lengths ranging from one-day 90-minute sessions to eight weeks. Some courses provide time to try new skills outside of class, time for independent writing and photography, and other activities.

Topics are carefully curated – history, literature, health/wellness, science, government, current events and more – thanks to a volunteer curriculum committee. “Didn’t like history or science in school? Give these subjects another try with us,” a spokesperson said.

There is a $25 annual membership fee, and classes are paid a la carte. Persons who want more information can contact Jerilyn Logue, director, at jlogue@iastate.edu or go to our website: www.isualum.org/olliatisu

OLLI at ISU is a program of the Iowa State University Alumni Association.
