Medical center eases some visitor restrictions

Due to a low Covid-19 positivity rate in Greene County, Greene County Medical Center revised visitor restrictions effective Monday, March 15. Please note, visitor restrictions may change at any time due to an increase in Covid-19 case counts. Full visitor restrictions will remain in place for Covid-19 positive patients.

Designated visitors must be free of any signs of illness. Individuals at high risk for severe disease (eg underlying cardiopulmonary disease, poorly controlled diabetes) should not visit. Visitors are required to wear a mask at all times, and wash hands with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand foam/gel upon entering and exiting the patient’s room. Greene County Medical Center staff will provide instruction if additional PPE is required.

All visitors will continue to be screened upon entering the medical center.

Acute care visitor guidelines for non-Covid-19 positive patients:

  • No age restrictions
  • Free from illness such as fever, sore throat, cough, diarrhea, vomiting or runny nose
  • Visiting hours are open 24 hours, seven days a week
  • Nursing staff will hold a list of visitors approved by the patient, with three visitors limited per visit

Emergency department, clinics, oncology, outpatient services, surgery:

  • Patients are allowed one designated visitor to be present

Long term care visitor restrictions vary with Covid-19 case count. Potential visitors are asked to check with long term care staff for specifics of what is currently in place and whether visitors are allowed.

The situation with Covid-19 remains fluid. The medical center will continue to evaluate information from many sources and make decisions as the situation changes.
