Greene County recorder Deb McDonald clarified for GreeneCountyNewsOnline that information she provided to the county supervisors at their March 8 meeting regarding House Study Bill 245 was informational only.
The bill was passed out of subcommittee and is moving forward in the Iowa House, but has not been passed. If approved, the bill would allow registered all-terrain vehicles and off-road vehicles to be operated on all secondary roads statewide. It would also prohibit counties from regulating the operation of ATVs/ORVs. Any ordinances currently in place related to ATV use on secondary roads would be deemed void and unenforceable.
The Iowa State Association of Counties is registered against HSB 245, McDonald noted.
