Greene County district court, week ending Feb. 19

In Greene County district court Alex Garron Trent, 29, of Grand Junction was sentenced Feb. 18 to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of eluding. All but 14 days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. Treft was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. He must pay up to $1,000 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Nicholas John Thies, 36, of Arthur was sentenced to two days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. The jail time was suspended and he was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. Court costs were $100. Keegan Wayne Williams, 24, of Jefferson was sentenced to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse by impeding breathing or circulation of blood flow, amended from domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. All but two days of the prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for two years. Williams was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge and a $90 domestic abuse assault surcharge. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as as follows: Karl Maurice Krieger, 27, of Jefferson, reckless use of fire or explosives; Brandon Lee Kious, 37, of Jefferson, theft- second degree; Conan Allen Hornsby, 24, of Grand Junction, possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense; Nickalos Andrew Brown, 25, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Ashley Marie Kuenster, 31, of Des Moines, possession of marijuana; Jason Edward Trotter, 47, of Perry, theft- second degree, possession of stolen property, criminal mischief- fourth degree, and trespass causing more than $300 damage; and Steven Logan Dzuris, 33, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine- second offense. Trial dates were set for April 6 in every case.

Cases were initiated during the week ending Feb. 19 as follows: Amy Lynne Taylor, 45, of Lake City, burglary- third degree (two counts); and Todd Allan Grimsman, 35, of Fort Dodge, burglary- third degree (two counts).
