The Scranton Kids Fishing Day event is slated for Saturday, June 5, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Scranton Pond Park. Children ages 4-17 years of age are invited to participate. Social distancing and masks will be required.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. To be eligible for prizes, children must be registered by May 25 and must be present in order to receive the prizes. Several door prizes will be handed out that day as well as a light lunch.
This is free fishing weekend so no licenses are required to participate. Sign up forms are available at the H.F and Maude E. Marchant Memorial Library in Scranton; by calling Ashley Squibb 515-370-3505 or Leesa Squibb 515-370-1339.
“Stop out and enjoy the free entertainment of watching the kids get so thrilled and smiles. Meet some professionals and hear their message to the kids along with a few surprises or two. It’s a huge sea of children, parents and laughter,” said Leesa Squibb. “Oh yes, a few fish or two are caught by those lucky kids.”
Donations are needed to make the event a success. Donations can be mailed to Leesa Squibb, P. O. Box 308, Scranton, Iowa 51462. Please place Leesa Squibb as the payee (due to banking rules), or donations can be dropped off at the Scranton Peoples Bank location or the Scranton library. ~courtesy of The Scranton Journal
