Snowbird says Covid exposure is due to someone else’s stupidity

Sad but true story.

Mr. and Mrs. John Doe for some unknown reason decided to get a Covid test on Thursday, Jan. 21. They then went about their business doing all the activities available to them within the RV park, specifically the sewing room and the main hall, perhaps the swimming pool and, who knows what else.

On Monday they received word that they were positive for Covid. They did not change their routine much, although they did tell some people they came in contact with, “Keep your distance. I have Covid.”

They told one of their neighbors after a few days and she was the whistleblower. The rumor mill was busy and by Thursday, Jan. 29, a full week after getting tested, word got up to management. Management called the Does and asked if it were true and they verified that it was.

Heads started to roll. We are on lockdown. All activities are suspended including the pool hall and the golf course. This will be the way it is for 10 days unless we are unlucky enough to have another positive case within the park come to light.

The irresponsibility and/or stupidity is unbelievable. This IOWA couple now has 398 people angry with them. More than that, really, because this also affects our sister park next door.

We personally do not know these people and as far as we know have not had direct contact. The indirect contact is the worrisome part as those of us with functioning brain cells are well aware. Time will tell. We feel like we are back at the beginning.

So we are settling in for a long winter’s nap, knuckling down and being ever more diligent. Our bubble of safety became even smaller.
